Most law firms charge $1,200 or more for a revocable trust package, and many charge much more than that. For instance, the average cost for a revocable trust is about $1,000-$1,500 for an individual and $1,200-$2,500 for a married couple. Compare these costs to my prices.
Although some estate plans are more complex than others and certainly require a lot of expertise and time to create, the average person typically has a relatively small amount of property and few special circumstances, which means they just need a simple will or trust and some tools to prepare for incapacity. And yet, with most law firms they might be asked to pay much more than they can afford.
My goal is to provide affordable estate plans for people who need a basic will or trust and little or nothing more. I can offer reduced prices because my overhead is extremely low—unlike most law firms—and also because my goal is not to become filthy rich. I simply want to earn enough to provide a decent living for my family. Granted, I might not have the years of experience that other attorneys have, but creating a basic estate plan doesn’t require decades of experience. I’ll leave more complex matters to my more seasoned colleagues.
What is a basic estate plan? It’s one that transfers a person’s or couple’s assets at death to specified beneficiaries and doesn’t involve too many assets (e.g. less than $1.5 million), complex business interests, or unusual circumstances. If you need this kind of estate plan, then I can help.
